Last home game of the season

Following a five game winning streak, we were looking forward to the last home game of the season, playing Virginia.  Not only was it the last game for the seniors, it was also Homecoming!

But first, all efforts were put on tailgating.  Another successful event where probably 30 people (or more) stopped by throughout the afternoon/before the game.  The weather was perfect and the "Southern Supper/Picnic" themed fare was delicious!

What a crazy game!  Incomplete plays, horrible officiating, finally a score, more horrible officiating and down to the last couple of seconds and a missed field goal that would have caused FSU to win the game.

Not the outcome of the game the Noles and fans wanted.  But there is still one more important game left to play after Thanksgiving!

Hurricane weekend in Tallahassee

Several weeks back, our friends Flash and Bette invited us to join them for a fundraising event with the Alumni Association.  It was fun to spend time with them, participate in the various auctions and meet some new people too.

About 6 years ago, we were invited to join friends at the Shell Oyster Bar for oysters in the morning, especially when the game is late afternoon or evening.  And we got things organized for a visit this weekend.  Many had good intentions, but only two of us (Frank and I) showed up.

A dozen each and BYOBM.
Now that's the way to start a gameday!

We decided for the pre-game tailgate, we'd order good Cuban food (in honor of the University of Miami visitors) from The Black Bean.  We had Cuban sandwiches, empanadas, black beans and rice, sweet plantains along with Hurricane jello shots.  Yummy!

It was a great tailgate and between us and the Glazers, there were about 35 people that visited!  And we couldn't have asked for better weather!

Thankfully the game is based only on the final score, because the statistics for the Noles were awful!  But a win is a win.

No pictures to show for the post game festivities at the Tailgate Compound.  The Glazers hosted a yummy pasta dinner for everyone that came back.  Also, Ray and his family all came over and I had fun playing games with the granddaughters, while staying warm in my snuggie!  :o)

It was a fantastic football weekend!  Thanks to all who made the trek to the RV lot to spend time together!

When the Terps came to town

Last weekend, the Seminoles were back at Doak to welcome the Maryland Terps.

Maryland has become known for their crazy uniforms and it seems they have a different, wild-and-crazy one each week.  Fortunately, for this game, they were a little more subdued.

We had a great tailgate with the Glazers, including pre-and-post game grazing.  (White chili with all the fixings before and red chili with the usual trappings, after.)

Both teams met in the middle as part of the Sportsmanship Awareness Week pre-game handshakes.

The scoreboard says it all.

We had a great time after the game.  Everyone headed back to the Tailgate Compound for dinner along with lots of laughs, singing and camaraderie.  (Hopefully the ladies from S. Florida will return for another game!  They were a hoot!!)
