We continued to watch the weather and the day before we were leaving, it wasn't looking so good for the game. But we were prepared with nearly every stitch of cold-weather clothing we had.
We arrived early Tuesday afternoon, in time to head to Legal Seafoods for some chowdah.
Clam chowdah and lobstah bisque.
Our hotel was right on the edge of Chinatown and we walked past this corner several times. Couldn't resist snapping a picture of the Chinese McDonald's.
After our lunch, we met up with Ray and Bonnie. Our travels took us around the area near our hotel, including Copley Square. Right smack in the middle of all these big, shiny buildings, stands Trinity Church.
Not sure who these "ethereal creatures" were, but they snuck around the back of the statue.
Trinity Church reflecting in the John Hancock Tower.
Wonderful farmer's market! (Too bad we were staying at a hotel.)
Time for a cocktail at Rock Bottom with Ray and Bonnie!
Another reason I was excited about going to Boston was to see Jamie and meet her beau, Gregg! (Jamie and I lived next door to each other for a few years and were the best of buddies doing all sorts of gardening, home improvement and culinary projects.)
Leann, Jamie, Frank, Gregg, Bonnie and Ray at Trattoria Il Panino.
Yummy appetizers including mussels, stuffed zucchini flowers, calamari and baby octopus.
Mom's Quattro Carni Ragu (aka 'plate full of meat')
Wouldn't be an authentic Italian restaurant without an accordion player.
Jamie and me ending our dinner with the traditional digestif, Sambuca with three coffee beans.
After dinner, we walked around the corner to Mike's Pastry, a shop well-known for their Italian pastries and sweet treats.
Cupcake, Cannoli and Boston Cream Pie
Needless to say, our first day in Boston ended on a very sweet note! :o)
