Early Winter Surprise

We arrived in Boone Sunday evening to mild temperatures. Monday morning, we tried to inspect the back yard project, but everything was covered in a 4" layer of leaves. Once those were removed, we were able to see that things turned out great! The dance-floor sized deck, steps leading to the hammock pad and various planting beds looked terrific!

The weatherman was forecasting flurries during the night and in the morning. Yes, SNOW FLURRIES! But it's only late October! Well, unlike the weathermen in Florida, this guy's prediction was right on the money. A beautiful blanket of snow greeted us first thing this morning. The snow flurries (with some quarter-sized flakes) continued until lunch-time, with winds gusting upwards for 35+ mph.

The sun was out for a while and thankfully, reduced our shoveling opportunities to zero. :)

There is a chance for more snow during the wee hours of the morning, so we'll see what happens.

While we were disappointed to miss a lot of the fall colors, the snow was a nice treat.
