New Year's Eve Eve and New Year's Eve Day in Amelia Island

This New Year's was spent with family and friends in Amelia Island.  Because of the FSU vs WV/Gator Bowl/Bobby Bowden's Last Game in Jacksonville, Frank made arrangements for a sweet beach-front condo on Amelia Island that we would share with his brother Ray and wife Bonnie.

We didn't know what to expect, but the layout was perfect!  It was three levels with the living room, dining room, kitchen and entry on the middle floor, Master Suite upstairs and two bedrooms with bathrooms downstairs (with access to the beach)

Loft at the top of the stairs, outside the Master suite.

Cool stairs connecting all levels of the condo.

Yes, the beach really was that close!

We arrived Wednesday evening, got settled and met Rick, Joanne, Eric and other friends in Fernandina Beach for dinner.  Good food, great company!  And the continuation of 'small world stories/Two Degrees of Separation'.  (Found out the son of one of the couples just bought a house across the street from my father in Tampa!)

Bonnie made arrangements for a Segway Tour of Amelia Island for New Year's Eve day, but the weather just wasn't going to cooperate and it rained most of the morning.  So, we headed back to Fernandina for a little bit of retail therapy and lunch.  Turned out a client of Ray's had a building that needed 'inspection'.  Fortunately for us, it was home to Pablo's, a great Mexican restaurant!  Delicious margaritas, scrumptious guac and Pablo's special tequila (served by Pablo himself).  (Not to worry, we ate well too!)

Editor's Note:  This picture was taken the morning we were leaving Amelia Island.  But it's a good one and since it was at the condo, I thought it was a good way to end this entry.
