Very Touristy in Boston - Day 4

Our last day in Boston was spent doing very touristy things.  After an intentionally late start (we had the late football game the night before), we picked up where our trolley left off.

We headed for the spot closest to the hotel.  As luck would have it, the trolley was coming down the street and we were able to hop right on.

We rode to the next stop, "where everybody knows your name".

It is never too early for a beer at Cheers!
Ray got Norm's seat.  :o)

The next place we hopped off was Fenway Park.  It was a short walk from the stop to the ticket office.
Along the way, we met some nice folks outside.
Frank recognized Mike Barnicle (the man on the right).

Once we got our tickets, the guide took us to the top of the stadium and we worked our down and through.
A view of Fenway Park and the Green Monster from inside the press box.

Our guide who was quite humorous and knowledgeable.

Uniforms from the old days.

View of the ballpark from seats on the Green Monster.

View of home plate and the press box.

Panorama of Fenway.

Original blue wooden seats, newer plastic red seats down front.

There are some unique things about the Green Monster.  For details, read the wiki entry.  But a few tips:  there is a door to the left of the score area (for putting up the score), the vertical white stripes contain Morse code with the initials of owners, and the ladder that doesn't seem to go anywhere.

After lunch we headed to the Sam Adams Brewery

Key ingredients: barley and hops
In the tasting room, we were introduced to several of the Sam Adams beers.

After the tour and tasting, we walked a few short blocks to the T stop.  Six stops later and we were back near the hotel.

We (the group) decided we'd be adventurous and try a Malaysian restaurant very close to the hotel.  The conceirege recommended it and promised it was where the locals ate.  When we arrived, the place was full of locals (mostly seated by the front windows).  Conveniently they put our group of Americans toward the back.  Thankfully we had a very patient server who explained what the various dishes were (since there weren't any pictures on the menu).  :o)

Of course we ordered one of everything on the menu, it seemed.

But we all got to sample each dish.  Everything was delicious!

It was a fun way to celebrate the Seminole's victory and
our last dinner in Boston together!

Thanks for a great trip!
