Saturday edition of 'Checking the Mail'

Our usual practice of 'checking the mail' (where we meet in the middle of the block with a cocktail and tennis ball to throw to the dogs) turned into an impromptu block party on Saturday.

Ken, Victoria, (Bo & Albert), Sully (Maggie), Curley, Frank and I met at the end of our driveways to enjoy the beautiful weather and sunset. Shortly into our cocktails, Buck and Nina trotted down with a couple bottles of champagne to share. Not wanting to miss any of the fun, Robbie (aka Crazy Hungarian) came over with some dead tennis balls for the dogs. A short while later, Mike and Joann were out walking the dogs and stopped by to visit.

No festive occasion is complete until Buck plays a silly game, does a magic trick, or has some story to tell (that may or may not be true). This time we were treated to 'rope magic'. Needless to say, there were lots of laughs.
Victoria is not going to let Buck beat her on this!
Curley & Sully give Buck's trick a try.
The sun started going down and it was getting pretty chilly. Sully offered to fire-up the outdoor fireplace and we all headed over. We all huddled around the fireplace and a bowl of popcorn as the temperatures continued to drop. Robbie's wife, Taunya, had ordered dinner for him and he was kind enough to bring it over to share. (Yes, there was enough for at least 6!) Someone else whipped up cheese and crackers and fresh fruit.
Finally, it just got too darn cold outside so we all headed in where Sully and Curley were watching a basketball game. Turns out they both played on the same team in high school. Nothing like watching a 20 year old high school basketball game....but we were getting into it as if were being played live and it was our team! Really, we were all watching and cheering!

(Sully is #42)

So five hours after we started checking the mail, it was time to call it a day. Thankfully the mailman came earlier. :)
