The second game of the new Jimbo era and Florida State was slated to play Oklahoma University. We were all pretty excited about the opportunity to play them and secretly hoping there would be a big upset.
As mentioned at the end of the Part 2 post, a very generous invitation was extended to the group at dinner. We were invited to ride in the limo to the game!!! Oh boy...Bonnie and I couldn't get our hands up fast enough to say we wanted to go! (Fortunately our friend Christian had already reserved 4 seats for us.) Our previous plan was to ride in the bus to the stadium and back.
We got to the hotel in plenty of time...making sure our host would not be waiting on us. With plenty of cold beverages were on hand and in hand, we started to make our way toward the stadium. The driver said it would be about an hour or more, with most of that time waiting in traffic closer to the stadium.
Nole Brothers!
I don't know what happened, but we were there in less than an hour and conveniently dropped off right next to the FSU Tailgate.

What a great turnout and show of support by the Seminoles! The food was plentiful and tasty. (But they probably should have had a few more port-a-potties and bar stations.)

(Thanks for the picture, Joanne!)
After having lunch, we started walking toward the stadium. Rick and Joanne's son and daughter-in-law (
Tim and Megan) rallied a bunch of Seminole friends and set up a tailgate right outside the stadium! We stopped by to visit for a while, quench our thirst and then head in.
It sure was nice not doing any of the setup, cooking or cleanup!
(Thanks Tim and Megan!)
Everyone was amazed how many Seminoles had traveled for this game! Because Oklahoma's red (crimson) is so close to Garnet, everyone was encouraged to wear Gold. It was really cool to see so much of it in the stadium!
(This was half an hour before kickoff.)
There was a lot of enthusiasm and excitement as the team was on the field warming up. There was a sense of hope that maybe, just maybe the Seminoles would do well.
The weather forecast was calling for partly cloudy skies. But just like the weatherpeople in Florida, they were WRONG! Oh, it was a it cloudy when we were traveling to the stadium, but as soon as we entered and found our seats in the corner of the stadium, those clouds just disappeared. It was H-O-T hot!
The game started and within the first five minutes OU (or Zero U as we've seen it referred to), scored. But within the next five minutes, FSU scored! Unfortunately, there were several plays after that where FSU just lost momentum and it was downhill from there. (I will spare ourselves and others the agony of discussing this any further.)
It was one game, early in the season, against an out of conference opponent. There are learning opportunities, things to fix and more games to play. We're all focusing on getting ready for the next game! And that's all I'm going to say about that!
