Day 13 - Guided tour of the Tetons with friends

Over the years, we've spent time with at various FSU gatherings with friends, Russ and Ginny.  They live in Florida but also have a place in Jackson.  As we were planning our trip, we compared calendars and fortunately, we were going to be in Jackson a few days before they were heading back to Florida. Timing was perfect and they took us on a guided tour of their piece of paradise!

And so our tour begins:  (Be sure to click to enlarge the pictures.)

Buffalo!

The results from the earthquake in the early 20's in the Gros Ventre area.

Slide Lake, which was formed after the earthquake in 1925.

Driving along and these fellows were just hanging out on the side of the road.
They posed for quite some time....guess they are used to people gawking at them. :o)

More horses

We watched these horses for a while....the brown and white ones seemed to be playing a game of chase.

Or maybe they were just trying to catch up with the rest of the group.

There were a couple of dogs just have a good ol' time playing in the river.

The Grand

We opted to stay in the car to take pictures.

When wildlife is in the road, everything stops for them.
After a few minutes, he decided to return to the grassy area and everyone could move along.

This herd of buffalo were trying to rid themselves of their winter coats.

More buffalo!

From the Chapel, we headed toward Jenny Lake.
There were a group of locals who were enjoying a Sunday afternoon in/at the lake.

Yes, that is snow on the ground.

Herd of elk just hanging out in someone's back yard.

More elk across the fence from Russ & Ginny's house.

A view of Snake River from the far corner of Russ & Ginny's property.

After the day of touring, we headed back to Solitude where we were treated to a yummy home-cooked meal of steak, salmon, potatoes, broccoli and salad.  Delicious!!

Thank you Russ & Ginny for a wonderful tour of 'your back yard' and piece of paradise!
