Day 28 - Cheyenne - The biggest little city

I was looking forward to seeing Cheyenne (the capitol of and most populated city in Wyoming) and rounding out our cowboy/Indian/western adventure.

Well, we were in for a surprise.  Cheyenne is pretty small!  After finding out there wasn't two days worth of activities, we changed our reservations and decided to get into Denver a day early.

But before leaving, we opted to learn a little about the city on a trolley tour.  Turned out it was pretty interesting (but still small).  Here are some pictures from the tour:

Lots of unique carriages, including a milk wagon.

The first RV aka Sheep Wagon.

A big annual event in Cheyenne is Frontier Days - rodeos, concerts, etc.  Lots of fun!
Museum closed today.

The owner is willing to pay big $$ if someone will buy and move these old enlisted men's homes (to make room for hospital parking.)

Former governor's mansion

On cattlebarron's row/street, these houses were fancied up with the fish-scale shingles on the side of the house.

The more colors on the house the wealthier you were since it cost quite a bit to mix the pigments for the paint.

See the pencil tip?

After the tour, we hit the road and headed for for Denver.  Nice to see blue skies and warm temperatures!
