Farm-to-Table Event

What a fun evening! We attended an event called "Farm-to-Table" at the Blowing Rock Country Club that was hosted by a couple from our club.

What an amazing culinary feast, featuring foods from this area of N.C., from many people who participate in the Wautauga Farmers Market:
* Ham from the Goodnight Brothers, with tasty biscuits.
* Cornmeal-battered mountain trout.
* A variety of cheeses from Ashe County Cheese with a delicious assortment of breads from Stick Boy Bread Co.
* Homemade mozzarella with fresh basil (bunches so big they should be tested for steroids) and balsamic dressing and the most perfect tomatoes from Zydeco Moon Farm
* Shrimp and grits!
* Fresh veggies: green beans as long as your arm, white corn as sweet as candy, a potato/squash/onion/herb medley and grilled zucchini the size of a baseball bat.
* Fresh blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and a multi-layer lemon curd pound cake served with vanilla ice cream, complete with a peach carving station! (Yes, there was a young man who cut up peaches to order.)

The Banner Elk Winery brought many wines for sampling.

The evening's musical stylings were provided by Todd Wright and his band. Todd's got a great voice!

All in all, it was a great time with wonderful friends!
