A day at the Science Museum

Allison and Andrea had the brilliant idea to visit the Academy of Sciences at Golden Gate Park today.  (And the weather was perfect for spending the day inside.)

The cafe at the museum has all sorts of international dishes to please any palate.  We opted for a big bowl of Pho soup.  Perfect for the gloomy weather outside!

There is a large aquarium section, rainforest, African territory, snow area along with the Planetarium.  Here are pictures from our day.

Yep, that's an albino alligator.

Big, fat, alligator gar.

All sorts of containers for the octopus to get into!

Starfish touch tank.

Sand dollars!

Frank and his girls in the snow.

The living rooftop.

The penguin display has pairs of the same kind we saw on our trip to South America.  ("Jack Ass" penguins.)

It's a stand off.

Can you find the snake?

"The" master of disguise.  Can you find the praying mantis?

This gecko thinks he's so stealth!

It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed spending the day with Allison and Andrea.  :)

On our ride back to the hotel, we drove through Golden Gate park.  It is a huge park with so many activities going on.  It is refreshing to see people taking advantage of the beautiful public spaces.

Something you don't see every day....people practicing their tight-rope skills!

A view of Coit Tower and the bay from our hotel room, at night.

We enjoyed another wonderful dinner, this time at the Boxing Room.

Thank you, Allison and Andrea for a great time in San Francisco!  Your efforts in coordinating activities and dinners were greatly appreciated and we enjoyed all the time we got to spend together.  :o)
