Day 4 - Arches to Corners

Over the past few years, our travels have taken us across the pond.  We've toured and admired numerous relics and ruins, but (I) haven't really appreciated them, until today.

Our adventure today took us to Arches National Park.  While these structures are not man-made, they are several hundred million years old!  (I have a hard time wrapping my head around how someone can determine something is THAT old!  How do they figure it?  Puzzling!)  So in comparison, the Roman ruins are pretty young.

We have been extremely fortunate to have enjoyed beautiful weather, perfectly blue skies (albeit a bit windy)!

Below are some pictures from today's adventure beginning at Arches National Park:

This was a very small sample of the 300+ cars that were participating in the
"Miatas in Moab" event.

"How are arches formed?"

Sporadic bits of colorful flowers.

These remind me of drip sand castles.

Beautiful dead tree

Since we were already this far west and heading south toward Flagstaff, we decided to find the Four Corners monument.  And after having lunch back in Moab, we hit the road.
Members of the Navajo tribe are responsible for maintaining the monument and the land.

How can someone be in four states at the same time?

Just like Frank....stand in the middle of where the four corners of Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico meet.

A few pictures along the drive from the Monument to Kayenta.

Kayenta is quite the 'bustling metropolis'!  (Seriously, compared to some of the towns we drove through, this is "The Big City"!)  But it was recommended that we eat at The Blue Coffee Pot.  And our blog post wouldn't be complete without mentioning what was for dinner.
A Navajo taco made with Fry Bread covered with chili, lettuce, tomato, cheese, green chilies and sour cream.
(Fry Bread is kind of like an elephant ear but without the sugar and cinnamon.)

Another full day for the Crazy Travelers.  Day 5 takes us to Flagstaff where we will stay for a few days and taken in the sites around Sedona, the Grand Canyon, etc.  Stay tuned.
